Thank the comic book gods for Christopher Nolan. Nolan and David Goyer were responsible for 2005's Batman Begins, an origin tale and franchise revamp from the Tim Burton and Joel Schumacher debacles of the 1990s. Batman Begins is about fear, while The Dark Knight is about the escalation from fear to anarchy.

My dad was Batman. When I was 3, I got "Batman," the 1989 Tim Burton film, for Christmas. Before the movie started, Batman had a message for me saying that I needed to be a "good boy" for my parents and that the tape was for me, and me alone. I later (like 10 years later) realized that underneath the cape and cowl was my dad.

A perfect example of Austin and the people who live here, the full moon gathering is a homegrown celebration in one of the city's most beautiful and natural landmarks.
